My why…
We all have our why, our reasons behind making small decisions such as what to have for breakfast as well as more meaningful ones, like who to marry or what career to choose.
So why did I choose photography?
Why, after all those years of studying and being a teacher have I changed my career path and decided to start something new from scratch?
It would be too easy to say that I simply love it, so here are my reasons WHY….
I guess, even though I love working with children, I’ve always felt like I was missing something; I was missing freedom to create and express myself instead of following the rules.
When I have camera in my hands, I feel free. I feel like I’m going on a journey around the world in a hot air balloon. It’s super exciting. I never know who I am going to meet and what the exactly is going to happen, but I know I will enjoy it.
I meet interesting people every day and every one of them has a different story to tell. I love listening to people and it amazes me what journeys we have been through and how different we all are.
I’m not a control freak, but I like having some control over the things I do and how I do them. Photography gives me the power to make moments last longer than just a split second. When I press the shutter, I freeze time. It’s like the world stops spinning for a second. I can see that one moment over and over every time I look at the photograph I took, isn’t it magical?
Not only that, photography is like a time machine. Every time I open an album with family photos, it takes me back to the times and places I love. It simply helps me to remember.
There are more reasons why photography is my passion…
For years, I’ve admired artists, how talented they are with their creations. Now, when I create a beautiful photograph, I feel like I’m one of them. I know this is my talent, something I’m good at.
What’s more, photography allows me to travel and explore our beautiful planet. It motivates me to get off the sofa and look for adventure.
Very often, on my adventures, almost by accident I discover a wonderful scenery. I love finding myself in an undiscovered place, taking an unexpected turn, seeing what’s round the corner, going one more step further to realise that I love what I see and want to immortalise it on a photograph.
My work have a special value to people I photograph and that will always bring a smile to my face and give me the warm feeling in my heart.
That’s why I love what I do.
Hope you will too.
Love,
